Living Room Cleaning Tips

Start your dusting at the top. I.e. Lights, top of walls and corners and work your way down.

When dusting, use a wet cloth first to wipe away the dust rather than sending it up in the air. This makes your job easier and looks better once you have finished polishing.

Paper creates dust so file away paper as much as you can. Leaving it laying around does not help keep your room clean of dust.

Remember to clean your door handles and disinfect to remove germs.

Keep wires untangled by regularly checking and tidying them up. Dust likes to hide with wires and using cable ties or string helps keep them organised and easier to clean.

Kitchen Cleaning Tips

Wiping your fridge down inside once a week will help keep it clean and help when it comes to fridge deep cleaning.

Wipe away spilt tea and coffee etc. as soon as the spillage is made.

Wiping your bin regularly such as on a daily basis can help stop it smelling and keep germ at bay. Remember to also clean the inside of the bin too.

Cleaning worktops and cutlery as you go helps keep your kitchen clean as you cook.

Wipe away grease and other bits from your oven after cooking and once it has cooled to keep your oven clean and making the oven deep clean easier and quicker.

Rinsing bubbles away after washing up helps remove tiny particles of food etc. and drying up plates, cutlery and the drainer soon after washing up helps reduce water marks.

Polishing chrome appliances and draining boards with a soft cloth and baby oil will give your items an extra shine which lasts days.

Bathroom Cleaning Tips

Rinse out the shower, bath and sink after each use to help keep them clean and deep clean the bathroom at least once a week for best results.

Ensure you regularly scrub your toilet clean. After soaking the inner bowl with a good lime scale remover, get a toilet brush and give it a good scrub to loosen the lime scale and remove any stains. Note that bleach will only hide the stains that build up on lime scale.
And don’t forget to clean under the back of the toilet either.

If you have children, it’s best to clean around your toilet daily, including the floor area. This helps keep your toilet fresh and germs away after miss-aims.

Many people do not clean under the sink bowl. Don’t forget this place as soap scum and other dirt builds up over time.

Bedroom Cleaning Tips

Ensure you order your draws and wardrobe in your bedroom. This not only helps you find clothes, it also makes it a lot easier to put things away making it quicker.

Ensure kids toys have a home and make sure the kids put their toys back in the right place once they have finished playing. Having a rule to tidy up before getting something else out to play with helps keep mess to a minimum and helps to teach kids to be organised (but it may take some years before it sinks in!)

Using a micro fibre cloth to clean mirrors gives good results. You can also use a leather chamois to clean windows and mirrors.

Don’t over dry clothes in a tumble dryer and hang up or put away as soon as the tumble ends to reduce creases. The same applies if you iron clothes before putting away. Hanging them up first makes the ironing easier due to less creases.

Pet Owner Cleaning Tips

Lint rollers are very good for clearing up animal hair and fur from your upholstery. This is a very quick and easy way to remove pet hair and fur from your furnishings, leaving them looking clean.

White vinegar can lift smells and stains from carpets. Put some white vinegar in a spray bottle mix with some water, then evenly spray the patch/stain but do not soak it or rub it in. Just leave the area to dry fully and the odour should go leaving it nice and clean.
Caution: Before trying this home cleaning method, be sure to check the homemade carpet cleaning solution on an area that is not easily seen first.
This will make sure that it don't react with your carpet. Avoid using any vinegar on wool carpets or other delicate materials such as silk and natural fibers.
